Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (NIV)

A man wanted to cross a tiny bridge and decided to ask God, “Can I hold your hand?” And God said, “No, son, I will rather hold your hand because if you hold my hand and something happens, you might let go. But if I hold your hand, no matter what, I will never let you go”. This ability of God to preserve His children is similar to Moses’ declaration to Israel in our text. Israel was about to cross the Jordan River to gain access to the Promised Land, but Moses needed to assure the people of God’s presence and dependability.

Beloved, God knows your Jordan River and is ready to cross over with you. As the short story shows, God offered to hold the man’s hand because human beings could abandon God at challenging times. This was what the children of Israel did when they often murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness (Exodus 16). However, the good news is that regardless of your situation, if you allow God to hold your hand, nothing can pluck you out of His hands. Not even when you go through the valley of death, the Lord will surely be with you.

I encourage you to personalise today’s Bible reading for your circumstances. See God making way at your crossroads, and it will become reality.

Song: When You Are There — Dr Paul Enenche (2016)

1. I refuse to be moved by physical things or roadblocks. Instead, I will depend on God and rest in His safety. So, help me, God!

1. Father, let every garment of darkness and sorrow covering my life, catch fire!

2. Father, by Your mercy, let it please You to grant me mercy and favour.

3. Father, as an individual, family, and church, please let our time of sowing and harvest be orchestrated by You!
