Genesis 39:21-23 (21) – But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison. (KJV)
Favour is an act of kindness beyond the usual. Any favour received or extended to others is as good as enjoying divine presence because favour is a function of mercy (Psalms 102:13). When the time to favour a man comes, the Lord’s Spirit within him will mandate people to support him.
Studying the life of Joseph, he was a consistent carrier of divine presence. From when he dreamt to his experience in Egypt, God was with him. In Genesis 37:3, Jacob loved him more and made him a coat of many colours. It was also the God factor that orchestrated his journey to Egypt. As seen in our Bible reading, God gave Joseph exclusive favour in the prison, before Potiphar and Pharaoh (Acts 7:9-10).
Beloved, if you are to enjoy a life of favour, you must be a carrier of God’s abiding presence everywhere you go. One of the ways to possess God’s presence is to live by His word. The Bible guides us in the path of life and guarantees good success (Joshua 1:8). Another way to carry divine presence is by replicating God’s character. When the Lord sees your heart and actions, He is committed to favouring you (Proverbs 4:18).
Finally, the fellow that will experience ceaseless favour would be an addicted pleaser of God. Learning from Joseph, he had a pure heart to tell his dreams to his brethren. He also feared God and pleased Him not to defile his body by having an affair with Mrs Potiphar (Genesis 39:6-12). If there is anything to take away, favour is more than a physical expression but of spiritual. Put God first, be His ambassador, and your favour shall know no bounds (Matthew 6:33).
