1 John 4:1-6 (1) – Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (NIV)

Many false prophets, teachers, and churches now exist for deceptive purposes. Perhaps they know that people desire to be healed and prosper; hence, they exploit their situations (Matthew 7:15-23). No wonder, a popular pastor was sentenced to death for burning his members and subjecting other women to sex slavery. Another feigned man of God brainwashed his followers by calling God on the mobile phone. How about the cleric who sucks out demons from women’s breasts? (Jeremiah 23:1-4).

Beloved, we have a role to play in exposing these wolves in sheep clothing. We must test all spirits as our Bible reading says, and not fall for everything, including the internet. We should also observe the assembly we worship and crosscheck what we are taught (Acts 17:11; 20:28-31). For example, does the church place value on the material than the spiritual? Do they hardly pray but perform diabolic miracles? If yes! Flee immediately, because, Isaiah 9:16b says, ‘And they that are led of them are destroyed’.

Above all, God is angry with these fake preachers and will suddenly destroy those who mislead through heresies and money-making tactics, among other things (2 Peter 2:1-22). Therefore, you can repent and be Born Again!

Hymn: Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose — Charlotte Elliott (1836)

1. Lord! Please, deliver me from ‘the evil prophet’ and baptise me with Your Holy Ghost to discern.

2. Father, expose every false minister and revive the falling one.

1. Father, empower me to heal the sick, set captives free, and do greater exploits.

2. Father, rescue the people from every spiritual blindfolding and physical breakdown.
