‘EVERYTHING I HAVE IS YOURS’

Galatians 4:7 – So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. (ESV)

Continuing from yesterday’s topic, the young boy who lavished his inheritance had returned home and being celebrated. However, his elder brother protested at the extravagant treatment given to him by their Dad. He said to their father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’ (Luke 15:29-30— NIV)

But here was the father’s response: ‘My son, you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ (vs 31-32). What a powerful and reassuring statement from this father who is likened to God. He is simply saying that restoring the lost is much more important because the saved already have access to the divine inheritance as affirmed by our Bible reading. Thank God for the saved, but heaven rejoices over every sinner that returns home (Luke 15:7-10).

Beloved, as children of God, we must bring in the prodigal sons (Proverbs 11:30) and if you lack anything, ask of the Father, because everything He has is ours! On the other hand, if you are still basking in sin and guilt. Repent and tell all to Jesus; He will receive you and cleanse your garment (Isaiah 1:18-19).

PRAYER

Hymn: Are You Washed in the Blood? – Elisha A. Hoffman (1878)

1. Father, revive me where I am sleeping to restore the lost and brokenhearted.

(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)

1. Lord, I am Your son, please let Your glory reflect in my life and family.

2. Any power assigned to tear my garment of honour and goodness, bow to the Lordship of Jesus.

PROCLAIM YOUR DIVINE INHERITANCE!
