EFFECT OF SIN
Judges 16:18-21 (20) – Then she cried, “Samson, the Philistines are here!” When he awoke from his sleep, he said, “I will escape as I did before and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the LORD had left him. (CSB)
I once observed the demolition of a set of flats, and within a week, these tall buildings were flattened. The amount of planning, money, and labour invested in building the apartments was gone in a matter of days. This demolition can be compared to our spiritual life and the effect of sin.
SIN can downgrade and kill. The Bible describes Samson as an anointed and strong man who singlehandedly pulled down the gate of the city. However, when he lusted after Delilah, he was captured by his enemies. In our key text, Samson thought he would easily escape from the enemies, but he never knew that God’s presence had departed from him, and he perished. “Sin is a destroyer of divine presence.” That’s why I pray for you that whatever constitutes a little or big sin in your life shall be blotted out, in Jesus’ name.
Beloved, if you think you are standing, remember that it takes a lot of effort to build a relationship with God or with man, but it only takes an action to destroy the relationship. A little sin can ruin the investment of a million years. Your anointing, prayer altar, and ministry could be wrecked by a single sin (1 Corinthians 10:12-13). However, if you have fallen to sin, the good news is that Christ came purposely to save you from destruction. Surrender to Jesus today and be saved!
