DROP YOUR ANGER!
Ecclesiastes 7:9 – Control your temper, for anger labels you a fool. (NLT)
The youngest of the family was a few months old and in the bedroom when their dog showed up in the living room with blood in its mouth. The father, thinking the dog had attacked his baby, fumed with anger and hit the dog on the head until it died. He then ran into the bedroom, and the sight that greeted him almost made him collapse in regret— A dead snake on the bed with the baby lying nearby. The serpent would have attacked the child if not for the rapid intervention of the dog. Without reasoning, the man had killed a defender of the family!
How many benefactors have we chased away because of a moment of anger? These are the people that will defend you against the ‘vipers’, but unfortunately, you have dismissed them! Be careful how you treat people, whether directly or indirectly! As seen in our Bible reading, tame your annoyance and instead, remember the better side of others because God has brought them into your life for a purpose (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). Those that had your back and stood by you when others neglected you. How you need to hold on to such people!
Beloved, if need be, be humble enough to reach out to build the broken bridges. You are not an island, and who knows? You might just be saving yourself from the serpent lying in wait. Be Born Again!
Hymn: Come into my Heart — Harry D. Clarke (1924)
1. Holy Spirit! Destroy every iota of anger in me and empowerment me to please God, always!
1. Any chain of hindrance and defeat binding my hands and feet, break!
2. Powers speaking against my life and glory, die!
3. Fruits of the Holy Spirit, germinate in my life and the church.
