DOUBLE PORTION
Isaiah 61:7 – Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours. (NIV)
When someone receives a double portion, they receive twice as much as others. Today’s Bible reading reveals that God is the custodian of a double portion. This is because He promised to bless the people in multiplied folds instead of in shame and disgrace. That’s why I can decree unto your life that anywhere you have been appointed to experience disaster, you shall enjoy blessings in greater measures, in Jesus’ name.
A double portion could also be in the form of an anointing. When Elijah was about to be taken away by the chariot of fire in 2 Kings 2:2–10, Elisha asked for a double portion of his anointing and performed exactly twice as many exploits as his master.
Studying the preceding verse of our text and Elisha’s story, there are commitments involved to enjoy double blessings. Isaiah 61:6 emphasises the importance of being an ambassador for God, while Elisha’s sacrifice was that he waited diligently on Elijah till he got the power.
Beloved, as you march towards 2023, you will ask for the grace to witness Christ and to wait on Him. This is so that you can have the boldness to declare the manifestation of the double portion of every good thing you desire. Whatever you ask for in the name of Jesus will be given to you. Go ahead and ask for spiritual growth and blessings in your career, finances, and marriage.

2. Father, I prefer Your power to wealth. Please, release it to me in double portions.

2. Father, let Your fire silence any issue or power that is silencing my voice of glory.
3. Father, in any way I have been dancing at the gate of shame, demotion, and hell; rescue me.
