Psalms 102:13 – Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come. (KJV)
Divine is something that comes from God, while favour is unmerited assistance. When God is set to favour you; it won’t matter where, why and how, He could bless you by any means; your name, complexion, height, location, appearance or even your present predicament. For example, in Genesis 37, Joseph was sold into slavery in Egypt, but he found favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh so that he became a governor in the strange land (Acts 7:9-10). Similarly, Esther obtained favour in the eyes of everyone and was crowned the queen, instead of Vashti (Esther 2:15-20). It was also favour that placed Jacob above Esau in Genesis 25:29-34.
Beloved, if not by divine favour, you and I might have been forgotten like Mephibosheth in Lodebar, because a life without help is destined to struggle. That is why I can decree that in the mighty name of Jesus, more than ever before, the type of favour that surpasses human understanding shall be your portion. However, as seen in our Bible reading, mercy is a prerequisite to attracting favour. No wonder, Bartimaeus cried out for mercy to seize Christ’s attention (Mark 10:46-52). Do you desire favour in your life, career, home and nation? If yes! Honour the Lord always and seek for mercy, then, His grace and favour shall follow you forever (Psalm 23:6). Be Born Again!
Hymn: Higher Ground – Johnson Oatman, Jr. (1898)
1. Thank God for life, help and providence.
