DIVINE DISRUPTORS

Mark 16:15-18 (17) – And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; (NIV)

“Give me 100 preachers that fear nothing but God and hates nothing but sin, and we would change the world. I don’t give a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen”. These were the words of John Wesley, who had 4 to 5 open-air crusades daily. Crowds were filled with God’s presence so that they would lay on the ground for days after each message. Many also confessed their sins openly (Acts 1:8). Mr Wesley wasn’t fluent in speaking, but his obedience to God and hunger for souls was exceptional. During his lifetime, he preached over 40,000 recorded messages, compiled four dictionaries and wrote songs. John Wesley did all these, riding a horse amidst several persecutions (Romans 1:16).

A century after, a nobleman came into a small English town looking for alcoholic drinks but couldn’t find one. He asked a slave why he couldn’t get alcohol, and the man replied: “Master, 100 years ago, someone by the name John Wesley passed through this village, and ever since, all liquor shops shut down because no one would buy.” After decades, John Wesley’s impact was still felt because of His endless love for God and souls.

Beloved, what are you passionate about? Church growth, money or fame? All these are good. But, an unquenchable passion to please the Lord and save the lost is what we need at this moment (Proverbs 11:30). God craves divine disruptors that will leave an indelible stamp on our generation. Can you be the next Apostle Paul and John Wesley? As seen in our Bible reading, it is open to anyone who believes in Christ. Jesus is the way, the truth and life. If you make it a duty to tell about His salvation, study the Bible and pray fervently, the power for exploits shall be constantly available to you.

PRAYER

Hymn: Work, for the Night, is Coming – Anna L. Coghill (1854)

1. Father, set me ablaze for You, and let me burn (win souls) for Your glory to manifest in our generation.

(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)

1. Father, empower me to cast out demons and speak with new tongues.

2. From today, no serpents and deadly things shall hurt or destroy me, my family and the Church.

3. I receive boldness to lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

“What you need is power before the pulpit.” (Acts 10:38)
