Job 32:8 – But it is the spirit in a person, the breath of the Almighty, that gives them understanding. (NIV)

The act of decision-making is as important as a matter of life and death. Every human position and possession is a result of choices. When Joseph faced sexual temptation, he made the right decision that eventually took him to the palace. If Joseph had committed immorality with Mrs Potiphar, he would have forfeited his portion in destiny. Joseph was able to rise above this obstacle and lay a glorious foundation for his future only because he had the spirit of God in him (Genesis 41:37-40).

On the other hand, in Judges 16, the powerful Samson made the wrong decision to fall in love with Delilah, and he died prematurely. Like Samson, many people have lost their peace and souls due to mistakes made in marriage, career, and even in identifying the place of worship. However, today’s Bible reading confirms the workings of the Holy Spirit to empower us with the understanding to make accurate decisions. When we adhere to God’s instructions, safety from errors is guaranteed.

Beloved, life is a map that leads to a destination. The decisions we take can either shorten or abort the journey. Temptations will always come, but our responses will either save or condemn us to a life of pain and eternal misery. This is why we need the Holy Spirit to help us on our way to fulfilling our destiny. Living in God’s consciousness through holiness, praying, and Bible study is the key to eliminating the possibility of making wrong decisions. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you as you journey along!

Hymn: Leaning on the Everlasting Arms — Anthony J. Showalter (1887)

1. Holy Spirit, open my eyes, ears, and heart to Your instructions. Help me walk by Your leading.

1. Midnight raiders, tormenting my star, rest, and progress, scatter by fire!

2. Father, concerning the issues of my life (mention), please direct me and cause me to finish well.

3. My head, reject wasters and attract destiny helpers!
