DAVID’S SECRET
Psalms 34:1-2 (1) – I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. (KJV)
Today’s Bible reading shows that David never made praising God a condition but a lifestyle. He was addicted to worshipping God and maintaining His presence through praise. David honoured the Lord with his thanksgiving, whether on the streets or indoors. On one occasion, he danced tirelessly in public so much that his wife felt embarrassed. Yet David said, “I will continue dancing and celebrating in front of the Lord. I might do things that are even more embarrassing!” (2 Samuel 6:21-22).
God never rejects those who praise Him for His majesty and presence. This is due to the fact that giving heartfelt thanks and honour to God necessitates humility. It takes a humble person to praise God everywhere and whenever. In verse 2 of our text, David proclaimed, “My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.” This is the secret to David’s testimony—he humbled himself to praise God always, and because God gives grace to the humble, David enjoyed divine splendour (James 4:6).
Beloved, I encourage you to humble yourself to live in God’s reality through praising Him. Having the understanding that you can do nothing without God is enough for you to worship Him. As you intentionally praise God like David, you will experience overflowing grace and honour.
