DAVID’S SECRET (2)
Psalm 111:10 – The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. (KJV)
Yesterday, we learnt that humility is one of David’s secrets to gaining access to the heart of God through praise. Today, we will focus on another secret to David’s glorious life. This is the fear of God. David feared the Lord right from his early years, and it earned him the divine wisdom that prepared him to become an influential king.
Long before David became king, he behaved wisely, and Saul set him over the men of war. He was also accepted by the people and Saul’s servants because the Lord was with him. On every occasion, David acted more wisely than all the servants of Saul, so that his name became highly esteemed (1 Samuel 18:5-30).
David was distinct and highly respected because of the great wisdom he possessed, and our Bible reading shows that the secret to this wisdom was the fear of the Lord. When we fear God and obey His command, the benefit is a higher dimension of the manifestation of wisdom and understanding through the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:17). Wisdom is life and a gift of the Spirit. A wise person understands that the more he fears God, the greater the victory and splendour that comes with it. Beloved, I encourage you to fear God and please Him, and you will be enrolled in the school of wisdom and honour.
