“COUNT THE STARS”
Hebrews 11:6 – And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (NIV)
Today’s Bible reading shows that God responds to the faith of genuine seekers. Abraham is a perfect example of someone who had unwavering faith. He was childless at 75 years old when God gave him the promise of fathering nations. In Genesis 15:5-6, God told Abraham, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them, so shall your offspring be. Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.” What happened thereafter was that God fulfilled His covenant with him.
Faith is the foundation of any concrete relationship, whether spiritual or physical. From Abraham’s story, we can see that God places value on faith. Christ also emphasised the importance of faith when He said in Matthew 17:20, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Indeed, faith is the antidote to any impossibility.
Beloved, what are the issues or divine promises that you find difficult to believe? Until you “faith it out”, it might be impossible to experience the reality of your testimony. With your little faith, you can trigger a shift in the realm of power in heaven and in the affairs of men. Maybe you have tried everything you could to trust God, but all to no avail. You need the Holy Spirit to strengthen you and help your unbelief. Tell God to move you from the level of humanity to divinity, where your faith becomes borderless. Through this, you will enjoy the Abrahamic encounters where your stars become uncountable.
