1 Corinthians 3:1-5 (2) – I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. (NIV)

Spiritual growth is an essential requirement for glorious living. In today’s Bible reading, Paul told the Corinthian Church that they were worldly and not ready for solid spiritual food because they could not digest it. If Paul had proceeded to feed them with solid food, it would have been like feeding a newborn with bread.

Many Christians who claim to have been born again are still carnal and immature. In character and by their fruits, they are religious and find it hard to submit to what will make them develop spiritually. Several self-professed Christians still give room for the works of the flesh, such as envy, pride, unforgiveness, greed, immorality, and falling for superstitious beliefs. This is the reason why the seeds that are being sown in the body of Christ have failed to germinate.

Beloved, if you are to become great and continually live a life that pleases God, spiritual growth is of importance. You can’t be a babe and eat solid food. You need to grow by subjecting your body to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will guide your path and keep you from falling as you journey through destiny. I urge you to repent if necessary and be nurtured in Christ continually (Galatians 5:22-26). By this, your growth and greatness will not be questioned.

Hymn: Draw Me Nearer – Frances J. Crosby (1875)

1. Repent of anything that is causing spiritual weakness in your life.

2. Father, revive my spiritual life and open my eyes of understanding to what I must do to be divinely great.

1. Holy Ghost, please take over my life, body, soul, and spirit.

2. I decree that I will not lose my secure position in Christ and in my destiny. My mind is reshaped to conform to God’s purpose!

3. I receive the grace to live beyond the physical.
