ARE YOU A JONAH?

When God told Jonah to go to Nineveh, he went the opposite way and boarded a ship from the port of Joppa to Tarshish. During the journey, God caused a terrible wind to blow, making the ship unstable. Consequently, the sailors identified Jonah as the reason for the ship’s instability. Therefore, they threw Jonah into the sea, and immediately, peace was restored (Jonah 1:1-17). Many tragedies on the road, in the air, or at work might be because of a fellow who has been labelled for destruction. If the ship’s crew had not thrown Jonah out, they all would have perished. We must be sensitive to discern people who are like Jonah around us so we don’t innocently suffer for their sins.
On the other hand, there are people like Jonah who disregard divine instructions and do suffer punishment. Psalms 107:11-12 says, “because they rebelled against God’s commands and despised the plans of the Most High. So he subjected them to bitter labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help.” Beloved, the prize for disobedience to God is struggle and reproach. Negligence to Biblical principles also triggers the manifestation of a satanic spell. If you have noticed any of these repercussions in your life, it’s time to repent. Mercy and deliverance are available if you pray as Jonah eventually prayed in our Bible reading, and God reestablished him. Confess your iniquities, and you too will be saved (1 John 1:5-10).

2. Father, if I am like Jonah, please forgive, revive and restore me!

1. I declare that I shall not be a victim of circumstances, and my loved ones will not suffer from the atrocities I committed.
2. The stubborn Jonah in the centre of my life, career, and marital destiny shall expire.
3. Father, please comfort the comfortless and let their faith in You be unshaken.
