“ALL BY YOURSELF”
Revelation 20:11-15 (12) – And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. (NIV)
Today’s Bible reading reveals the events that will unfold at the end of time. John saw the great white throne where the dead, great and small, stood to be judged according to the books of record. On that day, there was no hiding place. All the living at Christ’s second coming, the perished bodies in the sea, people who died on land and were buried in the graves, as well as the wicked in hell, were all released to partake of the white throne judgement. The conclusion of this event was that anyone whose name was missing in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
The emphasis of our study is that God’s final judgement does not take into account if you are a VIP or a nonentity on earth. The principle that applies on the last day is “All by yourself” (2 Corinthians 5:10). Because people of all ages and ranks, whether young or old, poor or rich, presidents or slaves, will stand alone with their maker. The sins and real motives behind every action will be laid bare. Money, power, evil accomplices, tempters, temptresses, and even parents will not be there to save anyone. However, only the righteous will make it to eternity with God. Therefore, if you repent, confess your sins, and accept Christ, you can reserve your place in His kingdom. Make the decision today and experience the joy of salvation.
