Acts 9:1-22 (4) – He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” (NIV)

Saul, a persecutor of Christians, was travelling to arrest believers in Damascus when he encountered Jesus. After the light from heaven flashed on him, he fell to the ground and heard a voice as seen in our Bible reading. Afterwards, he was led into the city but could not see, eat or drink for three days until Ananias laid hands on him, and he received the Holy Spirit. Saul became a new man, and his name changed to Paul (Acts 13:9).

A few years ago, a policeman sought my counsel after being sacked for bribery. The Lord inspired me to give him some prayer points, which led him into a personal encounter with God. Consequently, he discovered his spiritual gifting, and after a church service, someone gave him a car gift to start a business. Indeed, a divine encounter triggers a vision!

Beloved, what is your own experience? Whether good or bad, it could be a strategy and an opportunity to draw closer to God because, without a supernatural encounter, we would lack an understanding of our purpose. This was what Paul experienced. Without meeting the Lord, he would have perished in sin, but the encounter propelled him to become one of the greatest apostles (1 Corinthians 15:9-10). Therefore, perhaps the reason you have not been successful in that career, trade or even dubious acts might be that God is calling you to Himself (Revelation 3:20). Discover your purpose today and be Born Again!

Hymn: Jesus Saves – Priscilla J. Owens (1882)

1. Father, please give me a life-changing encounter with You today.

1. Father, I am ready to obey and serve You. Please, help me fulfil my destiny.

2. Father, just as You encountered Paul, please take me from where I am to where I should be.
