A NEW FACE
1 John 2:1-6 (6)
Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (NIV)
A man was segregated because he was born with an awful facial deformity. When reaching adulthood, he decided to move to another town to begin a new life. On his way, he saw a beautiful mask that fitted his face — making him look handsome. At first, the man felt very uncomfortable putting on the veil because he was afraid that people would get to know his identity. However, he continued to wear the mask. At his new base, he made friends and fell in love. But one day, a fellow from his old town came to the city and discovered his true identity. In an attempt to disgrace the man in front of his friends and fiancée, the fellow forced him to remove the mask. After he removed it, a handsome face was revealed — His face had conformed to the mask’s shape.
To be like Christ is similar to this. Though your past may be red as scarlet, when you get saved, you transform into God’s nature and must begin to live like Jesus, as affirmed by our Bible reading (2 Corinthians 5:17). Therefore, do not be shy because the old you is dead. Go ahead and put on Jesus. Initially, it could feel strange and inconveniencing because friends and relatives will mock you by reminding you of your dirty history (2 Corinthians 4:8-11). But never be moved! Continue putting on Christ, and daily you will grow to look more like Him (1 Corinthians 11:1).
Are you still basking in sin or saved but battling with the old self? Come to Jesus today or rededicate to Him. There are peace and hope in Him! (Colossians 1:27).
PRAYER
Hymn: Jesus Saves — Priscilla J. Owens (1882)
- Father, please disremember my mistakes, pardon my sins and deliver me from the scars of the past.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
- Father, I thank You for my existence, liberty and daily bread.
- I shall not be wrongly found liable for errors or crimes I never committed.
- Anointing for ease and exploit, rest upon my life!
- I refuse to lack amid abundance.
JESUS LOVES YOU!
