A FRIEND, BUT AN ENEMY
Matthew 26:14-25 (16) – From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over. (NIV)
Today’s Bible reading uncovers the betrayal of Jesus. Christ was betrayed by His disciple, Judas Iscariot. Everyone thought this man was a faithful follower, but he was a traitor with an ulterior motive. Judas had met the high priests and bargained to deliver his master into their hands. However, Christ, who knew his thoughts, mentioned that someone would betray him, yet Judas maliciously said, “Rabbi, am I the one?” (v. 25).
In your inner circle, there are people you might think are your friends, but they are enemies within. These individuals replicate Judas’ traits and are willing to sell you out with the information they have about you. This group of conspirators uses venomous tongues to gossip, curse, afflict, and inflict pain.
Beloved, the good news is that, with the help of the Holy Spirit, you can see beyond the veil, just as Jesus discerned the intention of Judas. When God opens your eyes and gives you understanding concerning the powers bent on defeating you, it is a stepping stone to victory.
The next step is to stay spiritually and physically alert to avert any attack. Finally, pray that the enemy will repent and if they fail to, that the judgement of God will fall on them. How I pray for you is that you shall not be a victim of the secret or open attacks of the unfriendly friend, in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER
Hymn: Jesus Saves — Priscilla J. Owens (1882)
1. If there is any veil my attackers are using as a covering, catch fire!
2. Father, deliver me from the unsuspecting internal and external enemy.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. I decree, let the powers of my adversaries and those of their enchanters turn to water.
2. Holy Spirit, seal every loophole in my garment of friendship.
3. Father, open my eyes to the source of the attacks on my life, family, business, and church.
