A DIVINE ENCOUNTER
Acts 9:1-22 (4) – He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” (NIV)
Read: Jeremiah 29:11-13
Saul was travelling to arrest believers in Damascus when he encountered Jesus. He fell to the ground after a light from heaven flashed on him and he heard a voice, as seen in our Bible reading. Saul was led into the city but could not see, eat, or drink for three days until Ananias laid hands on him and he received the Holy Spirit. The persecutor of Christians became a new man and did greater exploits for God.
A few years ago, a policeman sought my counsel after being sacked for bribery allegations. The Holy Spirit inspired me to counsel him and also administer some prayer points. This led him to a personal encounter with God so he became fervent and began to discover his spiritual gifts. Shortly after, the physical blessings started to come in. Someone gave him a car as a gift to start a business and fend for his family.
Beloved, your experience, whether good or bad, could be a strategy and an opportunity to draw closer to God. This is because, without a divine encounter, you will lack an understanding of your purpose in destiny. If Paul had not met God, he would have perished. Likewise, if the police officer was not caught receiving bribes, he might have continued in sin. But the encounter that both men had propelled them toward spiritual growth and the experience of God’s blessings.
Take note that perhaps the reason you have not been successful in that business, career, or even dubious act is that God is calling you to Himself so that you can discover your divine purpose. Will you accept Christ and allow Him to rewrite the wrongs of your life? It pays to surrender all to Him!
