BE QUIET
Psalms 46:10 – “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” (NLT)
Read: Isaiah 26:3
Several things contend with people’s time, causing many Christians to be distracted from focusing on God. The social media presence and busy schedules are common distractions that deprive people of quality fellowship with God. Whatever takes God’s portion in the equation of life can be a destroyer.
The fact that God is a spirit does not give an automatic right to disregard Him. God will never hold back from fellowshipping or keep silent whenever He wants to communicate, but the issue is with the believer, who needs to give attention to God and be still to hear Him. Today’s Bible reading shows the extent to which God values quietness. Quietness represents complete reverence for God and devotion to listening to what He says. The likes of David and Apostle Paul in the Scriptures discerned God’s mind because of their regular “private time” with the Lord. Whoever desires clarity in direction must work on the quality of attention they give the Holy Spirit.
In addition to the spiritual significance of quietness, maintaining a calm posture guarantees clarity and enduring peace even in the storm. This is because a calm heart thinks better than a troubled mind. Dear beloved, be encouraged to guard your relationship with God jealously and always be still before Him, knowing He is taking care of everything. May the Lord grant you the peace that passes all understanding, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
PRAYER
Song: Be Still and Know – Don Moen (2006)
1. Holy Ghost, clear away every self-made or rigid activity competing with my quiet time with God.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Please help me, Father, to be a spiritual and active Christian in all I do.
2. Any evil force assigned to track me down, flee by the blood of Jesus!
3. Father, please let there be a performance of wonders in the lives of every member of my family and the Church.
