GOD FIRST
1 Timothy 4:8 – Physical exercise is of limited value, but Godliness is very dear, a pledge of life, both there and here. (ISV)

In the Bible text for today, Apostle Paul emphasises the importance of devotion to God more than physical exercise. Paul did not intend to undermine the value of bodily exercise or training. Instead, the apostle attempts to make us see that righteousness and spiritual exercise are far more beneficial because they shape our lifestyles and determine where we spend eternity after death.
While we are alive, healthy living, godliness, and spiritual exercise are essential. As nutritious food and exercise provide nutrients and fitness to the body, holiness, prayer, fasting, and Bible study help us grow spiritually. More so, the quality of spiritual meat we eat or the types of Godly exercise we undertake also matter because, just as junk foods are dangerous for our health, too much eating and wrong doctrines will affect our relationship with God. In addition, the nature of our worship and the gathering of believers we belong to can influence our understanding of God.
Beloved, I urge you to never focus alone on your physical well-being but pay more attention to the spiritual things, which are of more significant essence. Eat healthily, exercise regularly to stay fit, and prioritise godliness to strengthen your spiritual relationship. This will allow you to enjoy your portion on Earth and in Heaven.

2. Holy Spirit, please breathe upon my body, soul, and spirit.
3. Father, empower me never to lose sight of Your purpose for my life and eternity.

2. Lord Jesus, put a seal of protection upon my life, family, and Church.
