WHO IS IN YOUR CIRCLE?
Jonah 1:15 – Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once! (NLT)

Today’s Bible text recounts the story of Jonah, who refused God’s directive to go to Nineveh, instead opting to take a ship to Tarshish. On his journey, God caused a terrible wind to unsettle the boat. The occurrence terrified the sailors, who, after identifying Jonah as the reason for their troubles, threw him into the sea for the raging sea to calm.
There are challenging issues in life that defy physical explanation, which many people have done everything humanly possible to address, yet the problems continue. This is sometimes because of a persistent sin or the presence of an individual who has been marked for destruction, just as the sailors could have perished if they had not recognised Jonah and ejected him.
In certain phases of your life, there are people like Jonah who you need to disconnect from, lest you and others suffer for their sake. The presence of such individuals can cause disaster and a closed Heaven. You should always examine your circle of associates to see whether they are in tune with God and contribute to your advancement. This step is crucial because the people you connect with can significantly influence your pace and direction in life. For example, before Joseph got to the palace, he had men who had worked with the king around him (Potiphar and the king’s servants he met in prison).
Beloved, if you want to excel in life and destiny, you must have people who are heading in the same direction in your circle. Therefore, your prayer should be for God to grant you the discernment and courage to separate yourself from individuals like Jonah, who could hinder your progress in life. May the Lord grant you understanding!
