GOD’S PATTERN OF FAVOUR
Genesis 40:21 – Then he restored the chief butler to his butlership again, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand. (NKJV)
Read: Genesis 40, 41, 50:20
One dimension of divine favour that a child of God enjoys is that the Lord can choose to show mercy to unrelated individuals and cause them to work for the benefit of His children while they fulfil their purposes.
In Genesis 40, when Pharaoh jailed his baker and butler, they both met Joseph in the prison. One night, the men had strange dreams, which the boy interpreted, earning him recognition for his spiritual gift. Not long after, just as Joseph had revealed, God allowed the butler to regain his freedom while the baker faced execution. Typically, a baker is confined to the kitchen, while the butler serves in-house and would be close to Pharaoh. This provided an opportunity for the butler to recommend Joseph, through which he became the prime minister and accomplished his divine purpose.
Beloved, the truth is that everybody needs somebody to get somewhere, and God can use anybody. With this understanding from Joseph’s story, your attitude and response to God should be that He would establish His pattern for your life with clarity and put people in place who would fast-track the fulfilment of your destiny. As you wait on the Lord, neither commonise His move nor despise anyone. You will experience timely intervention and the full dimensions of divine favour.
PRAYER
Hymn: Christian, seek not yet repose — Charlotte Elliott (1836)
1. Father, I will do Your will. Please anoint me with glorious favour.
2. Lord Jesus, encounter people and institutions for my sake so I can fulfil my divine destiny.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Give quality praise and thanks to God.
2. Father, please cause me to blossom and let my potential become a reality.
3. Decree according to Job 22:28: My story has transformed into glory. I am the head, not the tail (prophesy).
YOU SHALL BE HONOURED!
