GIVE ME REST
1 Kings 5:3-4 (4) – But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side, and there is no adversary or disaster. (NIV)
Key Reading: Matthew 11:28–30 and 3 John 2
The Bible mentions “rest” several times, beginning with the creation story in the Book of Genesis. We see that God worked for six days and rested on the seventh day. Similarly, according to our key reading, God’s desire for His children is for them to experience rest, sound mind, and prosperity as they work in line with divine purpose.
There are many cases in the Scriptures that show that God is able to establish His rest in the life of any individual or nation, regardless of the situation. In today’s Bible text, King Solomon discussed the problems his father had to deal with, including David’s inability to build God’s temple until his enemies were defeated. However, Solomon said concerning his own tenure that “God has given me rest on every side, and there is no adversary or disaster.” Solomon’s statement meant that the enemies’ actions and other problems are the greatest hindrance to enjoying rest. Therefore, in the mighty name of Jesus, I resolve any circumstances that have hindered you from fulfilling your purpose, prospering, and living in rest.
Beloved, no one can enter divine rest without first being redeemed. Redemption is crucial to experiencing rest. In the cases of David and Solomon, they both made God their priority and pleased Him. As for you, you can be redeemed through Christ and His finished work on the cross, after which you live to honour God with a holy, faith-driven, and prayer-filled lifestyle. By doing these, you will live in the reality of God’s rest.

3. Spend quality time worshipping and praising the Lord Almighty as you are led. You are experiencing instant rest!
