COOL YOUR TEMPER
Proverbs 14:29
People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness. (NLT)
Read: Ecclesiastes 7:9, James 1:19-20
A man received a text message from his neighbour: “Sorry, whenever you are not home, I use your wife day and night. I am confessing this because I am feeling very guilty.” Immediately after reading the text, the man shot his wife dead. A few minutes later, he received another message: “Sorry, a spelling mistake. I meant WiFi, not Wife.”
While this may sound illusory, it is crucial to pay attention to how you react when situations arise. As seen in the Bible text for today, do not be quick to get angry, because anger labels you a fool and opens the door to other grievous sins. Therefore, be sure to understand the other person’s version of events and allow yourself room to think before you respond.
The man killed his innocent wife because of a spelling error and a lack of patience. Examine yourself to see if you are doing something similar to what this man did, but in another form. For example, swearing in times of anger can destroy the offender and eventually yourself. As a parent, you should cease cursing your children when provoked, as you could ruin their destinies.
Beloved, let this story and the scripture serve as a caution. Always be slow to anger and remember that patience is a virtue. When sending a message, be very sure to proofread it so you do not cause harm. Above all, talk to Jesus to wash away your sins, anger, and excesses!
PRAYER
Hymn: I Must Tell Jesus — Elisha A. Hoffman (1894)
1. The spirit of anger and impatience in me, get out!
2. Every rage of the wicked against me and my glory, expire!
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, destroy every burden in my life and give me peace that lasts forever.
2. Lord Jesus, please help me, my family, and the Church to make it to eternity.
3. Every barrier standing between me and those who will help me to the top, be broken now by fire!
THE HOLY SPIRIT SHALL DIRECT YOUR PATH!
