A PLACE OF REST
Psalms 23:1-3 (2) – He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside peaceful waters. (GW)

A green pasture is a grassland where sheep find refreshment, symbolising a place of rest. Christ is the supreme shepherd and the giver of rest, while His children are the sheep. The parable of the lost sheep in Luke 15:1-7 reveals that Jesus cares for each of His sheep, irrespective of their numbers. This was what David referred to when he said, “The LORD is my shepherd. I am never in need.” Whatever your needs are, whether spiritual, material, emotional, or marital, when you abide under the leadership of Christ, they all will be taken care of in the realm of rest.
Today’s key scripture also shows that rest is a state of mind. David mentioned that God will ensure His children have rest because He lays them down in the pasture and leads them beside the peaceful waters. This experience is a spiritual encounter that transforms into physical manifestations. For example, water represents the Holy Spirit. In John 7:37-38, Jesus stood and cried out, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
This means that God will fill every thirsting soul with His presence and power, guiding them through His Spirit that dwells within them. Therefore, Beloved, you must walk in righteousness and strengthen your trust in God while you remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Consequently, you will discover that regardless of any challenges, you will enjoy peace and a sound mind.
