THE MAKING OF A CHAMPION
1 Samuel 17:41-51 (50) – So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him. (NIV)
Read: 1 Samuel 17:34-35
There are different types of champions. God desires His children to develop into reigning, undisputed champions. Therefore, everyone must aspire to be at the level by which they access God’s provisions to build the capacity of a champion and enjoy the full benefits thereof.
David is a good example of a God-made champion who increased in capacity. In today’s Bible text, David moved from the ranks of killing a lion and a bear to defeating the most dreaded enemy of Israel, Goliath. After this feat, the people sang, “Saul slew thousands, and David killed tens of thousands.” It was God who orchestrated David’s victory through what he had gained in his journey of shepherding. The little boy’s experience shows that the making of a champion involves a process. This process builds strength, confidence, and spiritual capacity.
The Almighty God is committed to seeing those who trust in Him grow into great champions through experiential training. As you start this new week, rest assured that whatever you are going through is adding to your faith and moving you closer to the rank of an undisputed champion. Without opposition, you cannot emerge as a champion. Psalms 18:29 says, “For by You, I can run against a troop”. When God is at the centre of your life, every step you take will showcase the strength and victory of an overcomer. Keep going; you have prevailed!
