ANYONE IS USEFUL
1 Corinthians 1:27 – But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. (NIV)
Read: Isaiah 41:10-14
A child fell ill and urgently needed to be hospitalised. The mother called a neighbour who said his car had no fuel. She rang a friend, who replied that she had a family guest and could not leave them. Since she can’t afford to lose her only child to the same sickness that killed her husband, the woman carried her son by herself but couldn’t move fast due to his weight. Along the way, the weak woman begged for help, but the people only watched as she fell many times.
The woman kept moving until a madman noticed her and took the boy. She couldn’t talk but pointed in the direction of the hospital. The half-naked crazed man carried the boy on the shoulder and said, “All will be well”, as he hurried. The doctors, on sighting the madman, knew something was wrong and therefore attended to the boy immediately. 10 minutes later, the mother arrived, and the doctor broke the news, “If your son had been brought 5 minutes later, he would have died.”
Beloved, God can use anybody or anything to get to you. No man is an island! Everybody needs somebody to get somewhere. As the Bible text for today affirms, God uses the feeble to confound the mighty. The person you often belittle can be your saviour someday, just as the madman was crucial to saving the boy’s life. On the other hand, like the mother’s experience, even when men fail you, pray earnestly and trust God to raise timely help for you. You will never be stranded, and no affliction will come upon you again!
PRAYER
Hymn: He Leadeth Me — Joseph H. Gilmore (1862)
1. Father, may I never lack help in my time of need!
2. Father, in my life; thy will be done!
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. My coat of many colours (glory), hijacked in the dream, be restored!
2. Spend quality time praying in the Holy Ghost.
IS THERE ANYTHING OR SOMEONE GOD CANNOT USE?
