THE PRAYER REQUEST ROOM
Acts 20:35b – ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” (NIV)
Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Imagine what the prayer request department in Heaven would look like. Based on the level at which people want their desires met, the requests room would most likely be busy. After all, Philippians 4:6-7 tells us to make our requests known to God. However, the Scriptures also admonish us to be thankful in every situation. This means that before and after our prayers become manifestations, or whether in good, bad, or challenging times, we are to praise the Lord always!
When we fail to give thanks to God, it is ingratitude. This is similar to taking the credit and the glory of God for ourselves, which has its consequences. The story of the rich fool presents a clear picture of how we can become too full of ourselves and claim God’s glory. This wealthy man never acknowledged God but made merry after recording huge profits. He lost his life that same night as a consequence (Luke 12:13-21).
Beloved, as today’s Bible key text reveals, our thanksgiving must be greater than our requests because thanksgiving is the secret to having more blessings. No matter how tough the situation, when all else fades, try praising God, and the gates of Heaven will open! After which you can begin to make your requests known. This was David’s strategy for accessing the heart of God. He praised the Almighty Father above anything else, and he never lacked any good thing, including divine presence. I pray that as you live a life of gratitude, you will experience multiple breakthroughs even before asking, in Jesus’ name.
