DON’T DOUBT, NO BLINK!
Matthew 19:26 – But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. (KJV)
Read: 2 Kings 6:24-31, 7:1-20
Would you have believed it if someone had told you in the year 2000, “Thus saith the Lord, a Black will become America’s president within the decade?” But that was what happened when Obama, who has Kenyan roots, became the 44th president of the United States of America. In 2 Kings, we find an intriguing story. An intense siege occurred in the city of Samaria, causing a dramatic surge in inflation. The food prices skyrocketed, leading to famine and cannibalism.
The situation caused Elisha to prophesy that things would turn around in 24 hours. It’s like forecasting that the high prices of commodities and the cost of interstate trade will drop significantly overnight. It would be difficult to believe such a prophecy. The Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and her advisers will certainly not believe it. This is similar to the thought of the Samarian king’s adviser, who said Elisha’s prophecy wouldn’t happen even if God opened the windows of heaven. But it happened as the Lord fulfilled Elisha’s prophecy.
The other aspect of the story is that the king’s adviser died because of his unbelief and utterance. Beloved, never doubt the Word and the promise of God. No matter how ridiculous it sounds, don’t stand against the intention of the Lord for you, your family, or the people. As today’s key text reveals, with God, nothing shall be impossible. On this basis, I prophesy as Elisha did: this time tomorrow, all your sorrows will be gone, and your greatest desires will become your reality.
PRAYER
Hymn: Trust and Obey – John H. Sammis (1887)
1. Father, I confess that only with You are all things possible. Please, make my impossibilities possible!
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Anything or anyone refiguring itself to attack and harm me, scatter by fire!
2. Father, stay the hand of death and affliction in my life, family, Church, and nation.
3. Father, please do a new thing in my life this weekend.
MAKE IT A PRAYER-FILLED WEEKEND!
