SPENDING ETERNITY
Luke 23:32-43 (42) – Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. (NIV)
Read: Matthew 13:37-51; 27:3-5, Revelation 21:9-27
There is a place we are going after our sojourn on earth—a city made of gold as crystal glass. Heaven is the great home for the righteous, while hell is the destination for unrepentant souls. Based on this understanding, we must continually check our lifestyle to ensure that it aligns with God’s principles.
Spending eternity with God is not about how long you have been born again, status, or title. It is mainly about living a holy life and maintaining a pure heart at death or rapture. In today’s Bible text, one of the condemned thieves nailed alongside Jesus made it to eternity because he received salvation, even at the point of death, while the other perished. Judas Iscariot was a disciple of Christ, yet he ended up in the Lake of Fire. Likewise, in Luke 16:19-31, Lazarus, the beggar, made it to heaven, whereas the rich man went straight into the place of everlasting torment.
Beloved, do you frequently examine yourself to know if you are still in right standing with God? This is crucial because every genuine child of God must take heed, lest they miss out on eternity. On the other hand, God is able to save you from any grievous sins you may have committed (robbery, murder, or abortion, among other sins). If you surrender to Jesus and cry out for forgiveness, He shall make you whole.
PRAYER
Hymn: In Christ Alone — Stuart Townsend (2001)
1. Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that You died so I can be saved. Please, have mercy on me and forgive my sins (confess).
2. Holy Spirit, I need You every moment. Please, dwell afresh in me to lead my path till the end.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Any power that wants my life, career, marriage, and the Church to move anticlockwise, be crushed!
2. Every door, shut against my prosperity; open by fire!
3. I decree that I shall not fail at the edge of breakthroughs.
WITH CHRIST, NO GUILT IN LIFE NOR FEAR IN DEATH!
