THE BATON OF REVIVAL
Psalms 85:6 – Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? (NIV)

Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola was a great revivalist of the 1930s. In his garments and a pair of sandals with his bell in hand, he preached the gospel and terrorised demons everywhere. During his crusades, the dead were often brought to life without the apostle’s touch. The man of God transformed the mountains and forests into a place of intense prayer. In one of his prayer sessions in the forest, a python wrapped itself around Apostle Babalola, who never bothered about the attack but later discovered that the python had dried up.
This is not to praise the apostle but to show that it is possible to manifest God’s power in our generation. Just as the biblical accounts of the apostles serve as a model for us to follow, Babalola’s ministry serves as a reminder to the body of Christ to wake up from spiritual and fire dryness. This is especially important as what we have today are entertainment centres in the guise of a Church, prayer consultants who are out there to mislead others, and numerous preachers who lack the leading of the Holy Spirit.
On this basis, God seeks souls that He can infest with unction to trigger groundbreaking revivals. Thank God for innovation, but it should never replace holiness, prayer, and Bible study. Rather, we must further thirst for the Holy Ghost and strength to do great things for God because if we falter, we fail God!
ACTION POINT
Are you ready to take up the baton of revival? If yes, in line with today’s Bible text, you will pray and say, ‘Lord Jesus, set me on fire for You and cause the world to watch me burn’ (Romans 8:19).
