GUARD YOUR HEART
Proverbs 4:23-27 (23) – Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (NIV)
Read: Mark 7:15
Every child of God needs to do a constant personal check to rid themselves of any remnants of sin. This is because the heart can be full of darkness while actions are grafted with deception. There are people who hate their fellow human beings but pretend to show love. Many have sold their hearts to wickedness, yet they pretend to lift holy hands in the congregation of believers. Some individuals have mastered the art of gossiping and passing judgement on others, yet they have not succeeded in removing the blemish from their own eyes.
The truth is, your actions originate from your heart. Studying the lives and actions of the Pharisees, you will discover that they were both religiously perfect and hypocritical. They knew the law and the principles, but their fruits negated what people perceived of them. Those who think they stand should study Judas. He was a disciple whose heart was under the control of Satan.
There is one strategy every believer must adopt in order not to end up like the Pharisees or Judas. This is written in our Bible text: “Guard your heart.” Let everything you do glorify God. Matthew 12:34 reveals that the mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart. This means that when your mind is corrupt, you will produce ungodly fruits. However, when you purify your heart, righteousness will naturally emanate from within you.
Beloved, be encouraged to seek the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Tell Him to cleanse your heart and refill you with God’s love and the power to live a righteous life. Refuse to yield to the demands of the flesh (lust, envy, pride, or hate). Instead, let the Word of God filter your actions.
PRAYER
Hymn: I Need Thee Every Hour — Robert Lowry (1872)
1. Holy Spirit, purify my heart and take permanent control of it!
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. I decree that my path shall be smooth and flourishing. I will not make any spiritual, physical, or career errors.
2. I cover myself, my household, my possessions, and the Church (mention) with the blood of Jesus!
3. I ask for the grace to let go of any wrong done to me.
MAN SEES THE ACT; GOD SEES THE HEART!
