SET THE PRIORITIES RIGHT
Matthew 6:20 – But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. (NIV)
Read: Matthew 6:19-34
It is pathetic that many people prioritise wealth and influence when, after they leave this world, their money will still be lying in the bank. The truth is that those who have no idea how the money was earned will comfortably spend it.
There was a story about a tycoon who died with $1.9 billion in his account. His widow, who could not cope with loneliness, eventually married his driver. After the wedding, the driver said, “All the while, I thought I was working for my boss, but now I realise my boss was working for me!”
Beloved, while it is beneficial to get rich, as today’s Bible text reveals, living for God is more valuable than depending on earthly possessions. Proverbs 23:5 also says, “In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle.” This is another reason to build a cogent relationship with God and not focus on material things. As you earn a living, remember that nothing will be taken with you when you die except what you have done for Christ.
Beloved, in 2025, be strategically wise and deliberate about living for whatever matters to God. Nurture your soul, and let all you do showcase the glory of Christ. Through these, you will be storing up treasures for yourself in heaven.
PRAYER
Hymn: Take My Life and Let It Be – Frances Ridley Havergal (1874)
1. Father, please make me prudent to live in honour of You!
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, grant me victory over every battle attached to my destiny this year.
2. Father, throughout 2025, please water my life like a tree planted by the riverside.
3. Holy Spirit, possess me, my family, and the Church with the divine wisdom we need to operate this season.
ENJOY REST, SHINE IN GLORY!
