GLORY to GLORY
2 Corinthians 3:18 – But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. (KJV)
Read: Psalms 19:1, 24:8-10
Glory is the pinnacle of power and majesty. The Psalmist affirms that God is the King of glory, further revealing His magnificence and how the heavens acknowledge the beauty of the glory while nature bears witness. Paul’s experience in today’s Bible text is similar to this. He captured the economy of God’s glory and its inherent power to transform a people into the same glorious image. This means there is a modus operandi in the realms of God wherein the more we focus on His glory, the more we become like Him.
Based on Paul’s revelation, these are the four levels that trigger a movement from glory to glory:
1. “But We All”: This refers to the place of unity. Romans 15:7 says, “Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” If the King of Glory is bidding us to be united, we must foster the bond of unity as a family and Church to attain His glory.
2. “Open Face”: A covered face cannot behold God’s glory. In 2 Corinthians 3:14-15, Paul wrote about the people whose minds are blinded with a veil. There are veils of sins and ignorance. We must eliminate whatever blocks our eyes; otherwise, we will remain grounded in the scheme of divine glory. Essentially, verses 16-18 reveal that the Holy Spirit is key to maintaining an open face before the Lord.
3. “Glory to Glory”: At this stage, having been free from the veils, the change from glory to glory occurs. This transformation can be an instant and a continuous process of becoming more Christ-like (Romans 8:28-29). The instant change is the miraculous healing and divine intervention that sets us up for a glorious 2025.
4. “By the Spirit of the Lord”: This encounter can only be inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is not by might, nor by power, but by the spirit (Zechariah 4:6). Therefore, be sensitive to living in the consciousness of the spirit as we journey in the realm of God’s glory.
