THE LIGHT OF LOVE AND PEACE
Luke 1:78-79 – God’s love and kindness will shine upon us like the sun that rises in the sky. On us who live in the dark shadow of death this light will shine to guide us into a life of peace. (CEV)

The Bible text today captures Zechariah’s prophecy about the birth of Christ. The prophet sums it up as the manifestation of God’s love for the world. God loves humanity so dearly that He gave His only Son to save and build an enduring relationship with man. Matthew 1:23b says, “They will call him Emmanuel, which means, ‘God with us.’” God yearns to be with you as a father and friend in order to lead you through life’s journey. If need be, make necessary amends in your walk with God to take advantage of His love.
Zechariah’s prophecy also equated Christ’s birth to the sun shining to brighten the day. This signifies the light of liberation and the life of peace. John 8:12-19 confirms that Jesus is the light of life. Those who walk with Him experience splendour, and they will radiate His light, transforming darkness into marvellous light for others. The result of this is the assurance of eternity and the peace of God here on earth.
Beloved, your response to this devotional is to shine the light of Christ brighter, starting with this Christmas. This involves showing mercy and love with action, telling the communities about Jesus, and walking in power through signs and wonders. This day, ask God to illuminate your understanding and empower you as you live for Him. You will enjoy the leading of the Holy Spirit!
