THE KINGDOM WITHIN YOU
Luke 17:20-21 (21) – Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. (KJV)
Read: Romans 8:28-29
The scriptural focus for today sheds light on the nature of God’s Kingdom. The Pharisees were expecting to see signs of the commencement of the Kingdom of God. However, Jesus enlightened their understanding by saying, “The Kingdom does not come with observation. For indeed, it is within you.” This implies that God’s Kingdom is not about a specific location or an easily identifiable event. Instead, it is a spiritual reality that resides within individuals.
God’s Kingdom and rulership begin in you not when you reach Heaven but immediately after you surrender to Jesus. The truth is that Christianity is not about you ruling yourself. It’s about Christ ruling in you until you conform to God’s image. In other words, you must be melted first to be poured into the Christ mould. For you to be melted, you have to pass through a refining process. This is why Paul said, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20).
Beloved, no matter where you are or the circumstances you face, you are constantly evolving into a better version of yourself because you embody God’s Kingdom. Therefore, the presence of the Holy Spirit, His power, and genuine love from the heart become your identity. As you proceed to a new year, live in this consciousness that you are never alone. The Kingdom of God is within you, guiding and empowering you to replicate God’s kindness, humility, and grace here on Earth.
