PERSIST
Philippians 3:14 – I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (NKJV)
Read: Job 14:14
Thomas Edison, the inventor of the electric light bulb, once said, “Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.” This is true because every child of God has in-built talents and the opportunity to showcase the glory of God. However, many factors and circumstances often hinder people from attaining their potential, thereby giving up their dreams when they should persist.
The Boy Scout motto says, “Be prepared.” The reason for this is that no one knows the defining moment of their lives; hence, it is important to be ready. Apostle Paul’s life is a testimony to this. Today’s Bible text confirms that he looked forward to the prize of the calling of God and focused on the assignment. Amidst challenges, Paul persisted and was always prepared to spread the gospel.
Beloved, this is an encouragement for everyone in the kingdom of light to be ready, keep going, and know that the time of elevation will come. Like Thomas Edison’s quote reveals, the gifts and talents will die if the carrier is not persistent and works on them. It is crucial to honk your skills and do something about those lofty dreams of yours. Pray fervently and work on yourself, your career, and your business ideas. Soon, people will give credit to God for your success and great impact.
PRAYER
Song: Order My Steps — The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir (1996)
1. Father, help me to persist in good works and to see the joy in my current assignment.
2. Holy Spirit, please empower me to look beyond the present and focus on the prize of glory.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, help me to trust You and receive my miracles.
2. Father, give me a discerning spirit to detect the unknown.
3. Thank God for your children, your community, and the Church of God.
