REVIVAL
Psalms 85:6 – Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? (NIV)
Read: Acts 22:10
In the 15th century, Scottish theologian John Knox prayed: ‘Lord, give me Scotland, or I die’. Likewise, a common prayer in the days of William J. Seymour, a one-eyed African-American preacher who led the Azusa Street revival in Los Angeles between 1906 and 1915, was: ‘Lord, this is another day that hell must lose souls. Please, we are here. Use us’. It is unsurprising that after the Azusa revival, the British brethren went back and gathered daily in the cold, praying: ‘Lord, give us men that will spread Your fire in our streets.’
In 1 Corinthians 9:16, Apostle Paul said: ‘Woe is me if I preach not the gospel’. Extending the realms of the gospel and revival is compulsorily essential. However, it is sad that what we have in this modern times in Christendom are people who feel comfortable seeing the lost perish. Many are spiritually lukewarm and only crave microwave miracles, or can we still find believers who will fast and pray as David did in the Bible text for today?
Remember also that after Paul’s encounter on his way to Damascus, he first asked: ‘Lord, what will You have me do…?’ But, nowadays, when people fall under the anointing, what they immediately expect are marriage proposals, visa approval, or employment letters. This is because many have yet to have that experience with Christ. Beloved, if you are fireless, it is time to wake up and seek God. As you pray, get set for the supernatural that will set you ablaze like the old pilgrims.
PRAYER
Hymn: Let the Fire Fall on Me – William J. Henry (1953)
1. Lord Jesus, please forgive me; revive me, and use me as Your instrument of change.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, please let the vessel you will use and the instruments of my deliverance locate me!
2. Lord Jesus, please give me the best in my own time.
3. Holy Ghost! Breathe on my body, soul, spirit, family, and the Church.
