This series on God’s identity and human purpose has revealed that the essence of man’s existence is to do God’s will by living for Christ. Today’s focus is on purposeful living for Christ as God’s battle-axe and weapon of war.
As established in Part 1, everything God created has an identity and a function. This means there is an assignment for all human creatures, regardless of age, race, or colour. More so, whoever is redeemed by Jesus has His life and lives for Him. As such, they bear the same burden and oppose a common adversary. The common enemy of Christ’s Kingdom is Satan and sin (Babylon). Today’s Bible reading sums up the atrocities of Babylon and its destruction. The ancient city was an icon of corruption, and everything linked with it opposes righteousness, leading people to perdition.
Beloved, Babylon still exists, as the earth thrives in evil and worldliness. For this reason, God commissioned you as His battle-axe and weapon of war. Christ came for this purpose, and since you have His life and carry His burden, you must exercise your authority.
These are seven keys to function as God’s battle-axe and exert Christ’s authority:
1. Key of power (Acts 1:8)
2. Key of faith (Hebrews 11:6)
3. Key of the Word of God (Jeremiah 23:29)
4. Key of prayer (Luke 1:18, 1 Thessalonians 5:15-17)
5. Key of togetherness with brethren (Amos 3:3, Psalm 133:1-3)
6. Key of love (John 3:16, 1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
7. Key of partnership with the Holy Spirit (John 14:25-26, 2 Corinthians 3:17, Ezekiel 36:26-28).
