THE POWER OF PRAYER
1 Kings 18:30-39 (39) – When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord—he is God! The Lord—he is God!” (NIV)
Read: 1 Kings 17:1
Prayer influences physical events, leading to the acknowledgement of God’s power and sovereignty over all things. In the Bible reading for today, Elijah prayed and called down fire to disgrace the prophets of Baal. Earlier, the prophet had also decreed the suspension of rain on the land for a period of three and a half years. Elijah’s dedication to prayer empowered him to put his enemies to shame and execute judgement on the land. This led the people to bow down to worship his God.
Nothing is beyond the reach of prayer. Your persistent situation might be due to a lack of understanding of the efficacy of prayer. You lose confidence in your ability to enact God’s will in that matter because you are not praying. Truth be told, the best way to pray is to pray. Go back to the basics of prayer. It is a dual communication with God. When you align yourself with God, He will grant your requests and silence your opposition, like the prophets of Baal.
Beloved, you have the word of God at your disposal in prayer to pull down any stronghold. Give yourself to prayer, rely on the Holy Spirit, and study and meditate on the Bible. With these, you can enforce your dominion and win territories for God.
PRAYER
Hymn: Sweet Hour of Prayer — William W. Walford (1845)
1. Holy Spirit, please usher me into a more profound revelation of Christ and the power of prayer.
2. Father, revive me and insert in me the engine of prayer and fire!
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Where is the God of Elijah? Arise, neutralise every neutraliser of good things in my life, and let my story change.
2. Father, please save our pastors, leaders, and friends from spiritual and physical challenges.
3. Father, let every hunter in my life become the hunted, so that they may know I serve the God of Elijah.
RECEIVE FRESH IMPARTATION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
