THE STRATEGY OF THE ENEMY
Exodus 15:9 – The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them. (KJV)
Read: 1 Samuel 24:1-13; 2 Samuel 11:6-17
Today’s Bible reading reveals the mission and strategy of the enemy. In the same way that Pharaoh pursued the Israelites, the immediate intention of every enemy is to destroy the innocent. There are several reasons why wicked people launch attacks. In the case of King Saul, he saw David as a threat to his throne, so he tried to shorten his life. However, David overcame the attacks with God’s help, and he even spared Saul when he had the opportunity to kill him. If David had not had God as his defence, he would have become a victim of the enemy’s plot.
The enemy can also set traps to conceal their secrets or potential shame. A king once sent a messenger to drown three prominent chiefs because they knew about his secret. After this, the ruler killed the messenger in order that nobody could trace the incident. This is similar to what David did to Uriah after he had slept with his wife, Beersheba. David ensured that Uriah was placed on the battlefront, where he was quickly killed.
Beloved, don’t be ignorant of the enemy’s strategy. There are powers ready to pursue and hunt you simply because they perceive you as a threat to their plans or a hindrance in the workplace, community, or family. But the good news is that as you pray violently tonight, the God who delivers will rescue you from every Pharaoh planning your doom, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
PRAYER
Hymn: Jesus Saves – Priscilla J. Owens (1882)
1. Any power assigned to me to eliminate me publicly or secretly. Destroy yourself!
2. Holy Spirit, open my eyes to the tricks and arrangements of the enemy’s operations.
3. I erase every plan and thought of death, defeat, and hardship in my life (Mention).
4. The grace for genuine repentance, brokenness, and holiness; locate me, my family, and the Church.
5. Spend quality time praying in the Holy Ghost.
