THE MAKING OF A CHAMPION
1 Samuel 17:41-51 (50) – So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him. (NIV)
Read: 1 Samuel 17:34-35
There are different types of champions. God desires His children to develop into reigning, undisputed champions. Everyone must strive to be at the level where they can access God’s provisions to build the capacity of a champion and enjoy the full benefits thereof.
David is an excellent example of a God-made champion who grew in capacity. In today’s Bible reading, the boy moved from the ranks of killing a lion and a bear to defeating Israel’s most dreaded enemy, Goliath. After this feat, the people sang, “Saul slew thousands, and David killed tens of thousands.” God orchestrated David’s victory by using the skills and experience he had learned in his shepherding journey. The little boy’s life shows that the making of a champion involves a process of training and determination. This is to build strength, confidence, and spiritual capacity.
Beloved, the Almighty God is committed to seeing those who trust in Him through the process grow into champions. As you start the second half of 2024 in a few days, rest assured that what you are going through is a booster to your faith and is moving you closer to being an undisputed champion. Also note that without opposition, you cannot emerge as a champion. Psalms 18:29 says, “For by You, I can run against a troop.” When God is your focus, every step you take demonstrates the strength and victory of an overcomer. Keep going; you have prevailed!
