IT IS WELL
2 Kings 4:8-37 (26) – Run to meet her and ask her, ‘Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is your child all right?’” “Everything is all right,” she said (NIV)
Read: Proverbs 24:10
In 1873, Horatio Gates Spafford lost all four of his daughters in a ship mishap in which only his wife, Anna, survived. Mr Spafford then sailed through the tragic location, and while on the trip, he wrote the evergreen hymn, “It is well with my soul”. Subsequently, the family accepted their fate and invested more in charitable and missionary work.
In the Bible reading for today, the Shunammite woman lost her only child. As people were consoling her, the woman remained positive and declared that “all was well”. It was not long before Prophet Elisha revived the child.
Beloved, when problems arise, what do you see, say, or do? The Shunammite woman and Mr Spafford saw beyond the tragedies and stand with God, who encouraged them. In the same way, you must be optimistic and have faith in every situation to understand God’s intention for the circumstance. In addition, you must be bold enough to face your fears, just as David confronted Goliath when others could only see defeat (1 Samuel 17). As you do this, the grace of God that strengthens and elevates comes upon you. It is well with you!
