BELIEVE (Part 2)
Mark 9:23-27 (24) – Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (NIV)
Read: Matthew 17:20; Hebrews 11:6
In Part 1 of this series, we learned about the disciples’ inability to heal the boy possessed by an unclean spirit, which caused Christ to refer to the people as an “unbelieving generation”. Today, we look at the statement made by the boy’s father. When Jesus was about to heal the boy, He said all things were possible for those who believed. But the father replied, “I do believe; help my unbelief”, and the boy was set free soon after.
What the father told Christ meant that he believed in what God could do, yet his son’s condition was so devastating that he couldn’t physically see the possibility of his deliverance. This made him cry out to Jesus to help boost his faith. There are times and circumstances when your faith may be insufficient to receive anything divine. The good news, however, is that God can help your unbelief or inadequate faith, as He overruled the man’s faith to set the possessed child free.
Beloved, whatever your level of faith, you need humility and honesty to tell Jesus the state of your belief. Tell the Lord Almighty to help your unbelief and increase your confidence to rise above all kinds of doubt. This is because, without faith, it is impossible to please God and take delivery of His provisions made available for you in heavenly places. As you pray, you will experience the dimension of God for an elevation into the supernatural realm of unrelenting faith.
PRAYER
Hymn: My faith looks up to Thee – Ray Palmer (1830)
1. Wherever my faith is failing, Father, please help my unbelief!
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, don’t let me be wiped away prematurely from the living. Please show me mercy!
2. Father, situations within and around my life are overwhelming (confess to God). Please rescue me!
3. Spend time praying in the Holy Ghost. A fresh impartation is coming upon your life.
