THE BREADSTICK
John 6:1-14 (9) – “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” (NIV)
Read: Romans 11:36
One day, my child suddenly whispered, ‘Biscuit, biscuit’. Before I knew what was happening, he appeared with two breadsticks that his mother had given him. I decided to beg for a bite, and the little lad refused, despite my persistent plea. The toddler may be aware that I purchased the biscuit in question and still finished it. The Holy Spirit began to compare this to how most humans behave towards God.
God created everything you own, buy, inherit from your parents, or acquire through nature. For example, the air you breathe comes from the Almighty, yet you frequently do not acknowledge and praise Him. God also gave you what you have in the bank, but paying a 10% tithe is a challenge. Many people are wallowing in poverty, but the Lord has placed you in a position of assistance. What are you doing about it?
In the Bible text for today, the boy released the five loaves and two fish because he understood that everything comes from above, for which he received abundance in the end. Beloved, God doesn’t need what you have because He created every resource in the first place. Instead, He requires your heart to consecrate, give, and acknowledge His sufficiency (2 Corinthians 9:8). Learn to appreciate God and be a blessing to others. The more you give, the larger your coast becomes.
PRAYER
Hymn: I Surrender All—Judson W. Van DeVenter (1896)
1. Lord Jesus, I confess that all I have comes from You. Please, give me a heart of humility and generosity.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, please give me a clear conscience and a godly character.
2. Lord Jesus, inspire me to always look up to You, even in the darkest hour.
3. Any situations mocking God in my life, family, community, nation, and Church, dry up!
YOUR FAITH IN GOD SHALL SPEAK FOR YOU!
