DESTINY AND ASSOCIATION
Matthew 7:6 – “Don’t waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don’t throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you. (NLT)

Destiny must be jealously guarded, as it is the essence of life. Your destiny is determined by the qualities of your friends and associates. In other words, you can’t be better than the company or people that surround you. The first part of the Bible reading for today says, “Don’t waste what is holy on people who are unholy.” This is because evil communication corrupts good manners. There is no way light can cohabit with darkness. Know your length and strength in every association you keep in order not to lose your value or forfeit your destiny.
The story of Samson provides a good illustration. The Lord gave detailed instructions before his birth to set his destiny in stone. One of these instructions was that Samson’s hair should not be shaved. As he grew, the strong man accomplished many feats, but he also began to associate with the unrighteous and engage in immoral behaviour. Samson became involved with prostitutes and eventually fell in love with Delilah, who shaved his hair, ultimately leading to his untimely death.
The other parts of the key text caution against tossing pearls to pigs, as they will destroy them and then turn against you. This was evident in Samson’s case. He unsuspectingly gave out the secret of his power (pearl) to Delilah (pig), who then used it to attack him. Beloved, as you journey on the path of life to attain your destiny, take Matthew 7:6 as a watchword, adding to it Apostle Paul’s advice in 2 Corinthians 6:14—“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers.” With these, be watchful, prayerful, and sensitive to the directives of the Holy Spirit. Things will work out for you!
