APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE
1 Thessalonians 5:18 – In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (KJV)
Read: Romans 8:28; Ecclesiastes 9:4-10
A man who had no shoes had always complained to God, and because he felt that the Lord was not listening, he stopped hoping. A few days later, the man saw another person without legs who was joyful and hopeful. Since then, the man with no shoes has learned to be thankful and hopeful.
There are people, like this man, who grumble about everything. They complain about the food, the weather, the government, and even their stature and complexion. But the reality is that most of what people grumble about is what someone else is praying for. People feel down when there is no money or resources, yet there are others who are ready to sacrifice their wealth and possessions to have the life and freedom that the ordinary person enjoys.
In today’s Bible text, Paul exhorts every believer to give thanks in all circumstances because that is the will of God. Regardless of how difficult the situation may be, it is important to find reasons to express thanksgiving to God. With a heart and an act of gratitude, all things will continue to work together for your good.
Beloved, value your life and the prosperity of your soul because they are more precious than wealth. There is no limit to what can be achieved when there is life; appreciate it and “devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful” (Colossians 4:2). It will be well with you!
PRAYER
Hymn: Count Your Blessings – Johnson Oatman (1897)
1. Father, thank You for keeping me, my household, my neighbours, and the Church from disasters.
2. Thank God for the past, present, and future, and for the potential He placed in you.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, I glorify You for redemption, power, wisdom, and the victory I enjoy daily!
2. Father, thank You for helping me thus far in life and destiny.
3. Father, thank You because my tomorrow is secure and because Your favour shall speak for me!
