REMINISCE!
Ecclesiastes 12:1-14 (1) – Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”— (NIV)
Read: Galatians 6:7; 1 Corinthians 15:58; Romans 12:11.
I was chatting up a friend with whom we both attended university and reminisced about our experiences back then. We lived as a family, attended lectures in packed school buses, and organised football matches with colleagues from other halls. I wish I could rewind time, because I thought of things I could have maximised more. But the truth is that the past has already passed!
The past is present history, and the currency of your experience becomes tomorrow’s history. You cannot replicate the physical work you could easily perform 10 to 20 years ago at the same pace today. This is because, as the clock ticks, a person moves closer to the grave. It is therefore crucial to make the most of this day to sow the seeds that yield fruits and lasting memories for the future.
Beloved, the same applies to when and what you do for God. King Solomon, in our Bible reading, admonishes that “now” is the time to take full advantage of all you have (time, talent, possessions) to serve the Lord. Even though youth is often associated with strength, regardless of your age, you can still serve God. Do not wait until you cannot function effectively. Now is the time! It is what you do for the Kingdom of God that remains a legacy.
